Description: |
The
initial phase of the project involved purchasing and delivering
three power distribution substations (PDS). These substations
provide power to the new AeroTrain system and to its maintenance
facility. The PDS were assembled and installed by six VarcoMac
electricians who worked efficiently and safely, and who completed
the job with no injuries. The second phase of the project
involved purchasing, assembling, and installing the overhead
stinger system, which allows for the AeroTrain vehicles to
be powered while moving safely into and around the maintenance
area.
|
| Points
of Interest: |
The
electrical fit out for the maintenance facility was just one
small part of the entire AeroTrain project. The AeroTrain will
replace most of the current Mobile Lounge system that is used
to transport passengers at Dulles International Airport between
the Main Terminal and the Midfield Concourses. The train will
operate on an underground dual track system and the maintenance
facility will support the AeroTrain’s operation. |
