Owner: International Masonry Institute
Architect: Tigerman McCurry Architects
Completed: 2007
Cost of Project: $1,000,000 – 5,000,000
Job Description:

Completed in August of 2007, the new training center for the International Masonry Institute features two buildings with a total area of over 100,000 square feet. The larger of the two buildings is the training center, which holds offices, classrooms, studios, storage space for building materials and a 30,000 square foot training area for its students. The second building has conference rooms, offices, recreational facilities, dormitory rooms for up to 108 students, and a full service kitchen and cafeteria. VarcoMac provided all electrical work for the training center, which included lighting, gear, wiring devices, fire alarm, parking lot lighting and more. Points of Interest:

The training center for IMI is a state of the art facility. It was designed to be a completely functional building for its students and staff. Many types of building materials were used in the project. Electrical conduit runs in hallways and ceilings were intentionally left exposed to give visitors a greater understanding and appreciation for how buildings are constructed. This training center provided a unique challenge to VarcoMac because of how diverse the building is. Within this single project, VarcoMac had to install and provide service for a kitchen, offices, bedrooms, conference rooms, a warehouse and other types of facilities.
