Position Overview

VarcoMac is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Fire & Life Safety Account Manager to support the Fire & Life Safety business. This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing existing customer relationships, and driving revenue growth through fire alarm, sprinkler, testing, inspection, service, repair, and system upgrade solutions. The Fire & Life Safety Account Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to customers, identify service and capital project opportunities, and manage the sales process from prospecting through project completion. This position requires close coordination with operations, service technicians, project managers, estimators, and administrative staff to ensure successful project execution and exceptional customer service.

Key ResponsibilitiesClient & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding Fire & Life Safety service, inspection, repair, and upgrade opportunities.
  • Maintain ongoing customer communication from initial opportunity through project completion and follow-up.
  • Represent VarcoMac professionally with customers, general contractors, property managers, facility managers, and industry partners.
  • Assist customers with budgeting and planning for future Fire & Life Safety upgrades and capital improvement projects.
Business Development & Sales Execution
  • Generate new business opportunities for fire alarm, sprinkler, testing, inspection, service, repairs, and system upgrades.
  • Identify and pursue deficiency-repair opportunities resulting from inspections and service calls.
  • Develop new customer accounts and expand VarcoMac's presence within existing customer portfolios.
  • Develop recurring inspection, testing, maintenance, and service agreements.
  • Follow up on outstanding proposals and maintain an active sales pipeline.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and account activity records.
  • Work toward an annual revenue-generation target of approximately $1.0 million to $1.5 million while maintaining acceptable company margins and sustainable recurring revenue.
Proposal & Account Management
  • Prepare and manage proposals, estimates, renewals, service agreements, and customer contracts.
  • Monitor account performance, revenue, profitability, customer retention, and future business opportunities.
  • Track and manage customer opportunities through the sales cycle to support consistent business growth.
  • Ensure proposals and agreements align with customer needs and company objectives.
Project & Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate with VarcoMac operations, service technicians, project managers, estimators, and administrative staff to support successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution of inspections, repairs, service calls, and capital projects.
  • Communicate project requirements, customer expectations, and schedule considerations across stakeholders.
  • Support successful transition from project sales to project execution and customer follow-up.
Documentation & Communication
  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, opportunities, proposals, and sales activities.
  • Prepare customer-facing documentation, proposals, estimates, and service agreements.
  • Provide regular updates regarding account activities, sales forecasts, and pipeline status.
  • Ensure all customer communications are timely, professional, and accurate.
Desired Skills and ExperienceEducation & Credentials
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Fire Protection, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant Fire & Life Safety industry certifications are a plus.
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in account management, business development, sales, or customer relationship management within the Fire Protection, Mechanical, Construction, Building Systems, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business opportunities and managing customer accounts.
  • Experience working with service agreements, inspections, repairs, maintenance programs, and capital projects is preferred.
  • Experience working with contractors, facility managers, property managers, and commercial customers.
Technical & Professional Skills
  • Understanding of Fire & Life Safety systems, including fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, inspections, testing, and maintenance programs.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and develop effective service and project solutions.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and related business software.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Additional Notes
  • Local travel to customer sites and project locations may be required.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to support business objectives and customer service initiatives.
  • Position includes responsibility for achieving revenue growth goals while maintaining customer satisfaction and long-term account development.
  • Salry: $135,000 to $140,000
